Soil Structure & The Profile
For your greens and sports turf lovers.
We all know how important it is to understand the profile and what is happening underneath the surface. But how many of you show and demonstrate this to the people playing on the turf..??
For me transferring information, knowledge and fact has proven very worthwhile indeed.
They may not be soil scientist now, but have certainly gone home to their gardens and looked with a new set of eyes.
Ultimately they also now play and understand a little bit more of what’s happening and how this like weather work with the soil structure.
I have taken time over the last 12 months to show how much a plant can be stressed by a poor soil structure, and how in turn this will effect the playing performance and the long term health of the turf plants.
It is definitely worth doing some investigation of the profile on your course or sports pitch and then using this information to teach people. Then adding the real kicker, plan your own spending and works plans around what you find.
Whilst you will need to lad result to show the pH, P & K etc, the structure you can begin to build a picture quickly and cheaply.
