GSS Pollinator Plus Grass is designed to create a beautiful area of colourful and productive plants to encourage pollination and attract insects.

What's in the mix

With grasses such as Fescues, the mix creates a hardy crop to survive frosty winters as well as colourful flowers throughout the season. Fescue grasses are effective as they can survive on poorer soils and can thrive without fertiliser use. Tall Fescue has a well-developed root system therefore can tolerate drought. 30% of GSS Pollinator Plus Grass is Fescue grasses therefore the core of the mix is made up of a strong hardy plant to survive throughout all weather conditions.

Legumes within the mix include Sainfoin, Winter Vetch, Birdsfoot Trefoil and Clovers. Sainfoin, at 10% of the mix, is both drought and winter hardy as well as deep rooted with coarse stems. Legumes equate to 44% of the mix and have several benefits involving their Nitrogen fixing properties and suitability in many soil and weather conditions.

Colourful flowering plants such as Black Knapweed attract masses of butterflies with their purple thistle like flowers. Oxeye Daisy is historically found in a traditional hay meadow with its colourful and attractive properties.
